Lin Barringer - As trustees we recognise how important it is to raise awareness of the charity and strive to have a presence at local community events to help spread the word. We work voluntarily planning and hosting our own fundraising events, actively seek mutually beneficial corporate partnerships and provide support to our loyal supporters and fundraiser’s.

Mike Barringer - I am one of the founders of the charity and immensely proud to be part of the team that creates the magic that is The Sophie Barringer Trust. Whilst I might make the odd appearance, I am far more comfortable working behind the scenes helping keep the wheels oiled and helping families escape the stresses and strains of hospital life.

Julie Hewlett - I became aware of Sophie’s Appeal when my Son told me he was doing a sponsored skydive for them and I soon realised Sophie was the little girl I’d seen as a Saints Mascot a few years before. I offered my support with fundraising initially, becoming a trustee in February 2016 and was invited to take on the role as Chairman at the start of 2022. I was very happy to accept and feel very privileged to be part of such a great team and to play a small part in the work that we do.

Holly Wright - I first heard of Sophie’s Appeal when they made a shout out for hairdressers & nail technicians via their social media, to go to Piam Brown once a month & offer ‘pamper evenings’ for the parents. It was clear how much the parents appreciated & needed this down time & to just feel ‘normal’. The children would often come along to the sessions & enjoyed having their nails painted too. ‘It’s so nice to be doing what my friends are doing’ is the first thing a child on the ward ever said to me. The first two parents I offered ‘man’icures to were dads & they had so much fun. They openly admitted this wouldn’t be something they’d usually do outside the hospital but was something they really enjoyed. It was just such a huge eye opener. Leaving the sessions would always make me evaluate my own situation & help me realise just how lucky I am. Due to covid the pamper sessions were temporarily cancelled but I wanted to continue to help the work of the charity, it really struck me that everyone within Sophie’s Appeal was a volunteer & to me, that stood out to other charities. I’m really proud to say that once the Pamper Sessions can restart, I will be taking the lead, liaising with the hospital about dates, organising volunteers to attend & making sure the sessions run smoothly.

I attended a fundraising meeting & realised they had nobody who was able to take on the role of their social media full time, being a mum of 4 I knew I would be able to fit this into my daily life. I have been lucky enough to attend several of the charity’s events & really enjoy trying to think of new fundraising ideas to keep the donations coming in so the charity can continue.
